What the Periscope web pixel collects, and what it does not.

Periscope is a Shopify app by AgentComm that helps merchants understand AI-referred store traffic and sales attribution. This page explains what data we process, why we process it, where it is stored, how long we keep it, and how we handle Shopify privacy compliance requirements.

Retention

Retention is configurable by the merchant. When a store uninstalls Periscope, store data is deleted within 30 days.

This Privacy Policy applies to Periscope, a Shopify app operated by AgentComm. Periscope uses Shopify web pixel and webhook integrations to attribute storefront traffic and completed sales to AI agent referrals.

1. What We Collect

Periscope collects anonymous browsing and purchase event data from a merchant's Shopify storefront through Shopify's web pixel framework and Shopify compliance webhooks. The pixel is used only to measure store traffic and sales attribution connected to AI agent referrals.

Data We Collect

  • Referrer URL identifying the page or AI agent that sent a visitor to the store.
  • Page URLs visited on the merchant's storefront.
  • Event types including page_viewed, product_viewed, add_to_cart, checkout_started, and order_completed.
  • Product IDs and cart tokens used for attribution and funnel reporting.
  • Timestamps showing when events occurred.
  • Session IDs that are randomly generated and not linked to personal identity.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • No personally identifiable information.
  • No cookies.
  • No names, email addresses, or payment information.
  • No cross-site tracking data.
  • No data sales to third parties.

How The Pixel Works

Periscope's Shopify web pixel is limited to event data Shopify makes available for storefront analytics. It is used to understand which AI-referred visits led to page views, product interactions, checkout starts, and completed orders on a merchant's store.

2. Why We Collect It

We process this data to help merchants attribute store traffic and sales to AI agent referrals, understand which pages and products receive AI-referred visits, and measure storefront funnels such as product views, cart activity, checkout starts, and orders.

  • Attribute completed orders and revenue to AI-referred sessions.
  • Show merchants where AI-referred shoppers drop off in the storefront funnel.
  • Support product and catalog health reporting tied to AI-driven discovery.

3. Storage, Access, and Retention

Where Data Is Stored

Periscope data is stored in the United States on Google Cloud and ClickHouse Cloud.

Default Retention

Session and event data is retained for 90 days by default. Merchants may configure shorter or longer retention settings where supported.

Who Can See It

Each merchant only sees analytics for the store that installed Periscope. We do not expose one merchant's data to another merchant.

Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures designed to protect stored analytics data in transit and at rest.

4. Sharing and Sale of Data

AgentComm does not sell Periscope data and does not share it with third parties for advertising, profiling, or unrelated commercial purposes. Periscope analytics are used only to provide the service to the merchant that installed the app.

5. GDPR and Shopify Compliance

Periscope is designed to minimize privacy risk. Because Periscope does not collect personally identifiable information and does not use cookies, the data collected through the web pixel is limited to anonymous analytics and attribution events.

  • No PII is collected through the Periscope web pixel.
  • No cookie consent banner is required for Periscope's analytics data collection as described here.
  • We support Shopify compliance webhooks for customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact.
  • When Shopify sends a required privacy or redaction request, we process the related deletion or response workflow in accordance with Shopify's requirements.

6. Merchant Removal and Uninstall

If a merchant uninstalls Periscope, we delete that merchant's Periscope data within 30 days of uninstall, subject to any limited retention period required to complete the deletion workflow, prevent abuse, or satisfy legal obligations.
